Weekly Review:The Octa-core Era is Coming
This week almost can be called the week of chipsets, especially octa-core Pro. After the flagship smartphones boost of 3Q, the mobile phone market has been a calm sea with no big news. However in this week, hardware market was into a turn point of quad-core to octa-core. Till this year, almost all the smartphone being sold were packed with quad-core chipsets which means that the new generation chipsets should be on the list. So in this week, we can see that some main CPU Pro providers released its new generation CPU one by one.Now let’s see how those octa-core chipsets showed their faces.
Media Tek: It has been talked many times that Media Tek is going to produce real octa-core processor. This week it finally uncovered its veil and along with the Coolpad 9976A. With a highest frequency 2.0GHz,the AnTuTu score is impressive.
Qualcomm:As the biggest Mobile CPU provider, Qualcomm has announced a new generation Snapdragon 805 chipset with better 2.5GHz quad-core processor and 4K graphics too.The Snapdragon 805 delivers 4K display support in addition to the 4K video recording support, which was already available on the Snapdragon 800. More interestingly, the new chipset features a brand new Adreno 420 GPU, which has 40% more processing power than the previous generation Adreno 330 chips.
LG: Beyond expectation,LG’s Odin SoC is rumored to have a octa-core version. A report in Korean media made the rounds, shedding light on the development of LG’s previously rumored, in-house developed chipset dubbed Odin. The SoC will reportedly come in two different versions – one with quad-core CPU, and another with an octa-core setup.
