HTC Releasing Updated HTC One This Year, New Flagship in 201
HTC’s One is currently the company’s flagship device, and will be over the next few months. But sources say not to rule out a follow up later this year, likely in the fall, that will be aligned as an “updated version.” If you haven’t picked up one of the best handsets currently on the market, you might want to hold off and wait it out.
According to sources, the updated version will supposedly focus entirely on internal changes. At this point, what changes HTC plans to make is unclear, though one possibility is the inclusion of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chip, up from the current Snapdragon 600 being used. HTC has done iterative updates in the past—HTC One X and HTC One X+—so it seems it’ll be more along those lines.
That’s not even the biggest bit of news coming out of Pocket-Lint’s sources. Those with knowledge of HTC’s plans claim the company will release an even better model, currently referred to as the M8, next year. As of now, no specs or design clues are being shared, but if you enjoy planning well in advance, you can start preparing for next year’s flagship HTC device.
As long as HTC follows the design ethos of the One, and continues to refine its Sense software, the M8 will be a very coveted device. We have little information to go on now, and plans can be changed before next year. But it sounds to us like HTC is honing its focus as it carries on through the remainder of 2013 and beyond.
