Galaxy Note III should launch with a dearth of color options
Looking at some of the smartphone launches in recent history, as well as some of the rumored launches just around the corner, and we’re definitely getting the impression of a trend towards more and more colorful options for these handsets. Obviously there’s the Moto X leading the pack, and Apple’s new iPhone 5C models should add some overdue splashes of color to the company’s phones. Not everyone is quite so enthusiastic about giving users a lot of options, and the latest rumor to address the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note III suggests that the initial color selection could be seriously limited.
SamMobile has learned from its sources that Samsung’s first shipments of GN3 hardware, going out the week of Samsung’s September 4 IFA event, will be available only in white and black. Following that, it expects Samsung to start shipping the phablet in pink during the last weeks of October, though there are no assurances that the pink model would necessarily see global availability.
Honestly, none of this is crazy surprising, since Samsung’s modus operandi is more about trickling out new color options in the months following a handset’s launch, and not so much inundating shoppers with too many options early on (like with the GN2, above, in only white and gray at launch). With any luck, we’ll learn of even more colors as we start closing in on the holiday season.
