Yesterday，a media in china had released a benchmark score of Qualcomm 8064( not the 8064). According to the Qualcomm product roadmap leaked in the early of this year, there was supposed to have product of APQ8084 or the handset with this chipsets can hardly reach the CES at early next year. For now, the most powerful processor of Qualcomm used is Snapdragon800 which codename is MSM8974. And the APQ8084 is expected to be the leading chipset at early 2014.
What is the difference between APQ and MSM? Here a brief introduction about Qualcomm Codename.
MSM is the acronym of Mobile Station Modem. It means a mobile processor with baseband chip, in other words, it is a built-in baseband mobile phone processor series.
APQ stands for application processor only without baseband processor. It ofen goes for wifi panel or outer baseband.
Generally speaking, processor without baseband has some advantage on price for there are some other baseband solution. So APQ8084 is going to be the next flagship chipset with high-end performance. Recently, An APQ8084 benchmark score on AnTuTu leaked which is 33923. The whole performance is perfect, above all, this is just a project device. How about its single test item score?
We have Sony L36H powered by APQ8064 to do comparison. We can figure out that the performance of this Qualcomm project device is really impressive, especially the Multitask performance which has improved multiply. Moreover, the CPU operation and Dalvik performance have doubled nearly. All those data showed that the performance of APQ8084 on data calculating ability item has improved 100%,but why the total score is not so high as expected？
Currently the handsets with score higher than 35000 are Snapdragon S800(MSM8974),NVIDIA Tegra4 and Intel Z3770. The hardware drive of this leaked device is not so perfect and the test UI must have somewhat limit as well which lead an incomplete exertion, just like the 3D test score which is only 6658,however, according to the official info about Adreno 420 GPU, it should be higher than Adreno 330, that is to say, basically, even in the single 3D test, the score should have broken 10.000.Then the total points should reach 38000.
In addition, there are some specs we known about the device: Android 4.3 OS, QCOM OEMs(Qualcomm),and quad-core with 300~2500MHz.. Otherwise，APQ8084 adds the support for PCDDR3/3L, H.265 video codec, 4K Video Play, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and 30MP camera.
